Over time, factors like major weight changes, pregnancy, or natural aging can cause the skin to lose its firmness and elasticity. This often results in areas of loose skin and lingering fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Body lift procedures are designed to restore contour, remove excess tissue, and create a more sculpted, youthful appearance through a personalized treatment approach.
Body Lift Procedure Details
Our specialists will determine the most suitable anesthesia option to ensure comfort and safety. In most cases, intravenous sedation or general anesthesia is administered. Depending on the treatment plan, fat transfer or liposuction may also be used to enhance contouring and achieve more balanced results.
Lower Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy, Circumferential Body Lift)
Often called a 360-degree tummy tuck, a lower body lift involves an incision that extends around the waistline. This method targets excess skin and fat from areas above and below the incision, making it ideal for addressing the lower back, hips, flanks, upper thighs, and buttocks. While highly effective, it is less extensive than a full body lift and focuses primarily on reshaping the lower body.
Mid Body Lift (Torsoplasty)
A mid-body lift combines the benefits of a lower body lift with abdominal muscle repair, similar to a tummy tuck. It is particularly suited for individuals who have experienced weakened or separated abdominal muscles due to pregnancy or significant weight loss. This approach helps restore firmness and definition to the midsection while enhancing overall body contour.
Upper Body Lift
An upper body lift is tailored to each individual and often includes a combination of procedures such as an arm lift and breast lift. It is most beneficial for those who have undergone substantial weight loss or pregnancy and now have sagging skin and excess fat in the upper body. The procedure helps refine contours and restore a smoother, more balanced shape.
Total Body Lift (Full Body Lift)
A total body lift is designed for individuals who have experienced a loss of skin elasticity across multiple areas. As the most comprehensive body lift procedure, it combines techniques from all other lifts to remove excess skin and fat from the arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, flanks, and back. Due to its complexity, this surgery may be performed in multiple sessions to ensure the best outcome and a safe recovery process.
Recovery from Body Lift Surgery
Recovery time varies depending on the extent of the procedures performed. Patients receive detailed post-operative instructions covering medications, incision care, compression garment use, and follow-up appointments. Most individuals recover fully within four to six weeks after a lower body lift, while total body lifts may require more time. Strenuous activities should be avoided for several months, though patients typically return to non-physical work within four to six weeks.
Body Lift Surgery Faq
Am I a good candidate for a body lift surgery?
The ideal candidate has realistic expectations for the procedure, is in good medical health, can commit to the long recovery time, and has droopy, excess skin and residual fat from either pregnancy or weight loss.
What is the difference between a tummy tuck and a body lift?
Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is reconstruction surgery of the abdomen. It tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall and removes excess fat and skin. An extended tummy tuck simply lengthens the incision to include the flanks. Lower body lifts do not reconstruct the abdominal muscle as a tummy tuck would. A mid body lift however blends both the tummy tuck and lower body lift in one procedure.
How much does a body lift procedure cost?
Pricing varies based on body and skin types along with combined procedures performed. Please call or schedule a consultation for more information.
